There are great stories about his San Francisco Days in the BOOK!. He originally traveled to San Francisco from St. Louis, MO...then to New York...and later down to New Orleans...
General Sherman led 60,000 troops for 285 miles from Atlanta to Savannah, GA, which became the infamous "March to the Sea".
Union Soldiers who were prisoners in the South were moved several times by the Confederates to prevent being released by Sherman's Army's advance.
A Song was sung by the prisoners, celebrating "Uncle Billy".
What fun we had, discussing which coins of the period might "Mr. Sherman" have carried with him in his Saddlebags! We also featured the Southern Currency that was representative of places he went when "Marched To The Sea" in 1864. More to come!
